My name is Angie Gamache and I am the ECE at Sooke Preschool. Over the past 21 years I have worked in the field of Early Childhood Education with preschool and toddler-aged children. I have a certificate in Early Childhood Education and a diploma in Special Needs. I spent 12 rewarding years working at Shalom Preschool in Victoria administering the center, supervising staff, developing a partnership with the parents and teaching a high quality program for the children.
After substituting for 1.5 years with VICPA (Vancouver Island Cooperative Preschools Association), I completed a one year contract at Goldstream Preschool. These experiences helped me gain skills in the co-op learning environment and reinforced my belief in the value of co-ops for children and their families. I joined Sooke Preschool in December 2005. I am delighted to be part of the co-op team!
I endorse VICPA's philosophy of "Learning Through Play". By teaching an enriched, age-appropriate curriculum, each child's physical, intellectual, language, emotional, social and creative skills are enhanced. Offering the program in a safe, caring and nurturing environment fosters a sense of belonging and builds trust and self esteem. Each child brings their uniqueness to the group, and I value their individuality.
Using the seasons as a valuable resource, and following the interests of the children, I offer a program that is "hands-on" and richly experiential. Science is a vital aspect of the curriculum, with a nature and discovery table set up for the children to explore. Music and movement are incorporated into the daily routines and I enjoy playing my guitar for circle time activities. I am bilingual, and like to introduce the children to the French language. The classroom is organized and vibrant, creating an inviting environment to play and learn. I bring energy and enthusiasm to my work and a deep sense of commitment to the preschool community.
I am a mother of 4 adult children and Me-mere (Grandma) to 8 grandchildren. This keeps my life busy and happy! Sooke is my home and I am thrilled to be working in my community. In partnership with you, I look forward to providing a wonder-filled experience for your child.
Merci, Thank you,
Angie Gamache, ECE
